Yes, you should go outside to get the financial support if possible. No problem to let your partner know who you're gonna ask. If they don't want you to, then they don't need help with finances. If you get it without asking them first, it may cause confusion.

Financial issues gone wrong
It is ok for them to ask someone for financial assistance if you and your mate don't know or can't find the answers to get support as a unit. As long as there is respect and the idea is presented to your mate I don't see a problem with it. However do not over step boundaries and never mention to your mate this could lead to confusion depending on who you are stepping out and asking for help. Kinda reminds me of Soul Food don't sneak behind my back and make me feel less than. This goes both ways for male and female if my mate doesn't questiom then I would think didn't care especially if I was asking another man.
