Michael Jackson’s new, posthumous album. Xscape, a set of eight new "contemporized" songs with Timbaland as lead producer, will arrive on May 13 via Epic Records.
"Contemporizing" is Epic Records boss L.A. Reid's word for the process applied to the album. selecting the recordings to give to the producers like Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins & Stargate. According to a press release, they then "retooled the production to add a fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson's essence and integrity." Epic will also put out a deluxe edition that includes the original versions.
Reid, in a statement, praised Jackson's contributions to music. "Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with," he said. "We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world."
Pre-order of Xscape via iTunes begins April 1. Jackson's last studio album was 2001's Invincible.
Trina is still the baddest bitch ... bailing on a concert and humiliating the organizers in front of a club full of her fans.
P.O.T.O.T.G Records claims in a new lawsuit it made a deal for Trina to perform last July at a club in Gary, Indiana. They agreed to pay her $5,500 up front and $2K after the performance.
Thing is ... according to the suit, she was a no show.
The company wants to get back its deposit as well as money it fronted for hotel rooms, cars and advertising. But even worse ... it was really embarrassing having to tell a club packed with Trina fans that she flaked ... and it's hard to put a price on that.

A Cook County judge has thrown out the first court action filed in connection with the missing Malaysia Airlines passenger jet, called the filing improper and threatening to impose sanctions against a Chicago-based law firm that has been accused of questionable tactics in the wake of aviation disasters.
Without solid evidence of a crash or wreckage of the jet, Ribbeck Law Chartered said in a petition filed last week that the Beijing-bound Flight 370 had experienced a catastrophic mechanical failure before plunging into the southern Indian Ocean, killing all 239 passengers and crew on board
Critics called the court filing a publicity stunt -- a series of accusations thrown together in order to win the battle for legal business after an air disaster.
Ribbeck's principal attorney, Monica Kelly told reporters in Asia last week that her firm eventually expected to represent families of more than half of those on board the jet that disappeared March 8 over the south Indian Ocean.
This “Thing” Is a sculpture Has been called a ‘tourist magnet’ & "an essential photo opportunity" Began construction in 2004. Finished in 2006 Was initially estimated at $6 Million with a final cost on $23 Million Is rarely referred to by its official name “Cloud Gate”
A Downers Grove couple claimed a $1 million lottery prize Thursday after a brief but frantic search for their winning ticket.
Cathy and Dave Seiden won the prize after matching five numbers on their Mega Millions ticket for the March 18 drawing.
Cathy Seiden bought the ticket at her regular Jewel-Osco in nearby Woodridge, something she said she does every couple of weeks.
She gave the ticket to her husband, and they forgot about it until one of Cathy's co-workers told her that a winning ticket was sold at that Jewel.
"She called me right away and was like, 'We've got to find that ticket,'" Dave Seiden said.
The pair proceeded to "tear the house apart" for the ticket, which they still did not realize was a winner. They found it mixed up in some papers.
"I looked at my son, and I said, 'Are you seeing the same thing I'm seeing?'" Dave Seiden said.
Cathy Seiden is a first-grade teacher in Downers Grove Grade School District 58, and Dave Seiden is part of the technology staff at Valley View Community Unit School District 365U in Romeoville. Their $700,000 lump-sum payment will go toward the college funds for their two children, one of whom is a high school junior.
And they plan to keep playing every now and then, as usual.
"From now on, all tickets go through me and they go to the magnet on the fridge," Cathy Seiden said.
Oprah is hitting the road — but she’s not coming home to Chicago.
The media mogul announced today that she is launching “The Life You Want Weekend,” an eight-city arena tour set to kick off this fall.
She currently is slated to stop in Atlanta, suburban Detroit, Houston, Miami, Newark, Seattle, Washington and San Jose, Calif.
And it seems, in many ways, the tour will be a reincarnation of her popular Chicago-based talk show, which she ended in 2011 and which was free.
In each city, the two-day event will begin on a Friday, with Oprah taking the stage to share her personal story. On Saturday, she will lead discussions with self-help icons such as TV personality Iyanla Vanzant, author Elizabeth Gilbert and Pastor Rob Bell. Spiritual guru Deepak Chopra will appear in select cities as well.
All have been fixtures on her past talk show or her network, OWN.
"All of my life I have wanted to lead people to an empathy space. To a gratitude space," Winfrey said in a statement. "I want us all to fulfill our greatest potential. To find our calling, and summon the courage to live it."
Tickets start at $99 and go up to $999 for a VIP ticket that includes a meet-and-greet with Winfrey. Tickets go on sale April 7 on her website, Oprah.com.
The "Drunk in Love" singer finished her long-running Mrs. Carter Show World Tour Thursday. The 32-year-old musician has performed more than 100 concerts she first took the stage on Apr. 15, 2013 in Belgrade, Serbia. In addition to signing throughout Europe, the diva took her act to North America, South America, Australia and Asia. Her final show took place at the MEO Arena in Lisbon, Portugal, March 27.
Understandably, Beyoncé got emotional during her final show. "I want a [spotlight]. I want them to see me," she said. "If you all don't know, tonight makes 132 shows. Tonight is the last show of the Mrs. Carter Show. We started a year ago and I want to say this has been such a journey. In the past year, we've been through so much together. The Super Bowl, shooting the videos, all of these shows. When I first started the tour, my baby was not even walking yet. I just want you to know that I am so lucky."
With tears streaming down her face, a humbled Beyoncé told concertgoers, "I'm giving y'all an ugly cry. Thank y'all again. Thank you for allowing me to have a career. And when I fall, you lift me up. When I'm hungry, you feed me. And I just want to give you my light. I dedicate this song to you."
The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour was the highest grossing female tour of 2013, raking in $188.6 million from the first 107 shows. During a select few shows, her husband, Jay Z, joined her on stage.
Beyoncé's self-titled fifth album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts in November 2013 after it was released via iTunes unbeknownst to the public. The disc included 14 songs and 17 music videos.
An actor on the hit TV show "Scandal" was arrested Wednesday after prosecutors charged him with felony battery with serious bodily injury for allegedly knocking out a man and breaking his nose.
Columbus Keith Short, 31, is accused of punching a man at a West Los Angeles restaurant March 15 and rendering him unconscious. Short allegedly sucker-punched the man after becoming involved in a disagreement, prosecutors allege.
Short was booked by Claremont police Wednesday and released on $50,000 bail soon after. Short, who plays one of character Olivia Pope's crisis management experts, Harrison Wright, faces up to four years in prison if convicted of the felony charge.
The alleged attack occurred at Gabe's Bar and Grill. Short, a onetime choreographer for Britney Spears, had in recent years built a career as a TV actor.
Short's off-screen actions have repeatedly landed him in jail. He was arrested for drunk driving in July 2008, Los Angeles police records show.
He was arrested again July 19, 2010, for battery with great bodily injury and later for failing to appear on a court case. Short was convicted of disturbing the peace and placed on three years' probation, court records show.
He was arrested and charged last month for battery on a former spouse at his former Woodland Hills home. He plead not guilty.

Lawsuits against the CTA emerged Tuesday over the Blue Line train derailment a day earlier at the O’Hare International Airport stop that injured more than 30 people.
Airport newsstand employee Niakesha Thomas, 23, and Dalila Jefferson, a 23-year-old airport security worker, filed lawsuits claiming negligence on the part of the CTA. The pair were commuting to work at the time of 2:50 a.m. derailment, according to their respective lawsuits.
Thomas’ lawsuit cites the possibility of conductor error, excessive rate of speed and/or a faulty brake system.
Thomas was nodding off in the third car when she felt herself being thrown forward and backward, said her attorney, Jerry Latherow. She was transferred to Resurrection Medical Center and was released later that day, but the single mother of a 1-year-old still suffers from lower back and hip injury, is receiving pain medication and cannot work, Latherow said.
“She is having a lot of difficulty right now,” Latherow said. “She’s concerned about taking care of her baby. She’s the sole breadwinner.”
Jefferson was catapulted within the first car of the train, injured her neck and head, broke her foot, and had to be extricated by the Chicago Fire Department before being hospitalized, according to her attorney, Matt Jenkins.
Attorneys in both cases said they want to ensure that evidence in the ongoing federal investigation is preserved.
“We’re seeking a protective order to make sure all data, record books, laws, camera-books, photos are indeed protected so that questions can be answered …,” Jenkins said.
Both lawsuits seek a minimum of $50,000 in damages.
“We just hope this lawsuit will provide answers as to how and why this happened so that something like this could be prevented from ever happening again,” Jenkins said.
A CTA spokeswoman reached Tuesday night said the agency doesn’t comment on pending litigation.

Kim Kardashian, while on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," revealed some secrets from behind-the-scenes of her big Vogue shoot -- telling Seth that baby North West actually peed on Kanye West when they were taking the photo with North.
"North peed on him right at that moment and I had to get up, get her, clean him off, clean her off, it's a good memory," says Kim.
"Just to be in the same name as so many amazing people that have been on the cover is such an honor. They're telling us Kanye's the first rapper to be on, and I'm the first reality person to be on and we're the first interracial cover," she added. "Every girl grows up dreaming they can be on the cover of Vogue, I'm so honored to be on the cover.
Kim K. was later seen going to dinner at Waverly Inn to have dinner with Kanye and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. See, they do get along now!
This “Thing” Has its national headquarters on Chicago’s South Side Is an acronym for People United To Save Humanity Was founded in 1971 Merged with its own political organization in 1997 Has branches in many cities including Washington DC, New York City & Detroit
If you're ready for a change of scenery in 2014, you're not alone -- millions of Americans change their residences each year in order to follow a job, experience a new lifestyle pace or sometimes just to forget that a season known as "winter" even exists.
But whatever the driving force might be, a city move has never been more popular -- but it depends on where you go. According to CNNMoney, which released Penske Truck Rental's annual list (see below for more) of top cities to move to in the country, certain metros are experiencing huge growth when compared to years prior. Well, except for Atlanta, which has snagged the No. 1 ranking for four consecutive years.
And while it might cost you more than it would have in years past to settle down in some of these areas, it's quite difficult to argue with the perks of fantastic weather, reasonable costs of living and thriving economies most of the list has to offer.
10. Las Vegas, Nevada For the first time since the foreclosure crisis, "Sin City" is making its comeback and as tourism begins to regain traction, hospitality workers are making their way back in.
9. Denver, Colorado
Consistently ranked as one of the healthiest and most active spots in the country, outdoorsy folks are flooding the "Mile High City" for the obvious nature-centered lifestyle that currently coincides with a strong economy.
8. Chicago, Il
Hiring may be slower than desirable in the "Windy City," but that cannot distract from the fact that it offers the cultural perks of New York City for a much cheaper cost of living.
7. Seattle, Washington
Only in Seattle can you find the perfect combination of job opportunity, a well-known music and arts scenes and quality coffee. And as an added bonus, you get Super Bowl bragging rights until next February...
6. Houston, Texas
In this southern city, new residents aren't just greeted by relatively low unemployment levels of 5.6 percent -- they're greeted with the promise of another oil and gas economy boom thanks to the upcoming plans for a new ExxonMobil facility that will employ 10,000 workers.
5. Phoenix, Arizona
Similar to what has happened in Tampa and Las Vegas, where a flood of real estate investors have taken to giving foreclosures and cheap housing new life, Phoenix is quickly becoming quite the popular warm-weather destination.
4. Orlando, Florida
Warm weather, cheaper than Miami and, of course, home to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World? It doesn't get better -- Well, except when the economy is strong and people start vacationing again, offering an increase in available tourism jobs, all of which is happening right now.
3. Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas
Now the ninth largest city in the country, people are rushing in to this tech-friendly hotspot to get a piece of the action in what is being referred to as the "Silicon Prairie.
2. Tampa, Florida
While it will certainly cost you more than ever before, it's difficult to argue with the beautiful beaches, baseball fandom and job opportunities the city has to offer.
1. Atlanta, Georgia
Between a relatively low cost of living (less than half of what Manhattan's is) and dozens of Fortune 500 companies to offer jobs in the area, it's no wonder Atlanta has made this list four years running.
Is it me, or does the name "Tootsie's Caberet" Sound like a Touristy Downtown Gentleman's Club? But hey, if they can make KOD work up the block, why not try this- ML
Rick's Cabaret International, Inc. announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Club O, located in the Chicago suburb of Harvey, Il. Rick's plans to expand and convert it to the Company's highly successful Tootsie's Cabaret mega gentlemen's club format.
Club O was named Best Club in the Midwest in 2012 at the Adult Nightclub Expo in Las Vegas. It currently occupies approximately one-quarter of its 56,000 square foot building, has a 5 a.m. license on weekends and 4 a.m. on weekdays, and is centrally located and highly visible off Interstate 294 and Interstate 80.
Rick's plans include making fuller, more effective use of the location to establish a major presence in the Chicago market and to leverage the Tootsie's brand.
"While Club O has been a successful venue for many years in the Chicago area, we anticipate it will be even more so when we refashion its facilities, mode and name to Tootsie's Cabaret, based on our highly successful adult gentlemen's club in Florida serving the Miami market," said Eric Langan, President and CEO of Rick's Cabaret.
"Tootsies Cabaret Chicago will be a very exciting addition to our growing national network of adult clubs and sports bar/restaurants, and will be especially so once its makeover is completed to include Tootsie's signature stages, bars, entertainment and sports bar/restaurant attractions. We anticipate that the changeover will be complete by the Spring of 2015. During the transition, the existing Club O will continue to operate as usual."
Cost of the acquisition is $11.06 million, which includes $2 million for the real estate. Assuming transfer of all necessary permits, licenses and other authorizations, and other items subject to due diligence, closing is expected on or before May 31, 2014
Tootsie's Cabaret in Florida is one of Rick's most profitable clubs. It features three levels of VIP areas; abundant stage area seating; full bar service; a lavish lunch, dinner and appetizer menu; and a Knockers Sports Bar. The club has gained national attention after being voted number one adult nightclub in America in 2012 at the Las Vegas Adult Nightclub Expo, and is frequently featured in newspapers and on radio and television programs.
America’s Got Talent host Nick Cannon has been busy promoting his new album, "White People Party Music," which hits stores on April 1. However, he may have taken his album title a bit too seriously…
The rapper shared photos and videos on his Instagram account of himself in whiteface makeup with blond hair, a new wardrobe and a "skater boy" accent. Cannon captioned the first photo with a series of hashtags, joking about stereotypically white interests. "It's official... I'm White!!! #WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC #Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!!Dude Go Get It!!!Join The Party!!!! #GoodCredit #DogKissing #BeerPong #FarmersMarkets #FistPumping #CreamCheeseEating #RacialDraft "Bro I got drafted!!" he wrote.
Cannon also posted several videos to Instagram dressed as his white alter ego, Connor Smallnut. In the videos it appears he is attempting to imitate the way he believes white men act. It’s unclear whether or not his album is actually “party music for white people.”
Aretha Franklin, who's tour stops in Chicago Saturday May 3rd, has confirmed she is working on new material with OutKast's Andre 3000 and singer-songwriter Babyface.
Speaking at her 72nd birthday party, the singer said she is waiting for Babyface to finish his guest slot with Toni Braxton in the Broadway musical After Midnight before he can get to work on her songs.
"I'm just waiting for him to finish that so he can finish my tracks please," Franklin said. "And I think Andre 2000 - is it two or three? Andre 3000 is going to be aiding in producing some of the tracks," said Franklin. "I love everything he does. He’s got a groove that I really, really like."
Franklin is also considering covering Beyonce on her next LP, "I like 'Bootylicious,' 'Survivor' – my little granddaughter loves 'Survivor,'" she said. "She’s a worker," Aretha says of Beyonce. "And I can appreciate that. I’m a worker."
Earlier this month, Franklin performed at the White House alongside Patti LaBelle, Jill Scott and other soul singers. "What a shoutin' good time we had," she said. "The White House is still rocking right now!"

Suited up in a white and burgundy Naeem Khan lace-embroidered caftan, Ciara looked stunning as she celebrated her baby shower with celeb pals like Kim Kardashian and LaLa Vasquez.
Although details are scarce so far about what went down inside of the "Body Party" crooner's baby shower, the festive event was held at a private residence in West Hollywood, Calif. earlier today.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star rocked a white crop top and maxi skirt with a thigh-high split for the occasion, and her mom Kris Jenner was in tow as well, heading inside in a white suit with a huge gift basket in tow, filled with a variety of items, including a blue toy car and black pirate's hat, according to the Daily Mail.
"Celebrating @Ciara's baby shower today with @lala #mommymemories," Kim posted on Instagram, along with a shot of herself posing with Ciara and Vasquez. She also posted another shot of the trio, writing "#BFF's."
"@ciara what a fun afternoon at your Baby Shower!!!! #youwonallthebabygames," Jenner also chimed in on Instagram, posting a shot of herself with the mom-to-be.
While Ciara hasn't confirmed whether or not she is expecting a baby boy or girl with her fiancé Future, the rapper supposedly revealed the news during a recent radio interview in the U.K..
"The baby's listening to music already now," Future said. "[Ciara] sent me a video while I was over here with the headphones on her stomach. She's like, ‘The baby just listened to "Turn on the Lights," the version with me and you.' I said, ‘You gotta play the "Anytime" for him, the new one you did. Let him hear that, see how he kick.' She played it and he started kicking crazy."
He did say he…
Ciara also recently shared a photo on Instagram, captioning the shot, "Happy SUN-Day." As for whether that meant she is pregnant with a boy, her rep played coy, telling us, "No comment and she was commenting on the fact it was Sunday and it was sunny outside."
We'll just have to wait and see. Perhaps there were some blue balloons at the shower?
A Colorado mother who attempted to teach her daughter a lesson about Facebook use wound up getting blasted by others.
In an effort to show her daughter how quickly something can spread online, Kira Hudson posted a public photo of her daughter and asked her Facebook friends to share it. She had the girl pose with a sign that read, "3/18/14: Mom is trying to show me how many people can see a picture once it's on the internet."
In a screenshot of the post, the mom explained, "My 12-year-old daughter doesn't understand why she can't have an Instagram or Facebook account... Please 'like and Share' ... She just doesn't get it!"
But Hudson probably didn't expect the photo of her daughter to wind up on 4chan, an image-based bulletin board. Users eventually found Hudson's Facebook page, home address and phone number. On Wednesday, the mother received prank calls, and pizzas were delivered to her house. Some also edited the original photo to include an obscene message.
Hudson eventually removed the photo, which had almost 1 million likes.
These sorts of posts might get a lot of attention on social media, but parenting experts do not recommend jumping on the public humiliation bandwagon. Alfie Kohn, author of Unconditional Parenting: Moving from Rewards and Punishments to Love and Reason, previously told us public shaming is "counterproductive" and will "never achieve any result beyond temporary compliance, and it does so at a disturbing cost."
A child is likely to view the parent as an "enforcer" versus an "ally," Kohn added. It could also make the child believe "the reason not to steal (or lie or hurt people) isn't because of how it affects others but because of the consequence you, yourself, will face if you're caught."
Thirty-two people were injured after a CTA Blue Line train derailed and hit the platform at O’Hare International Airport around 2:55 a.m Monday.
The injuries do not appear to be life threatening. It’s not clear how fast the train was moving but it jumped a bumper at the end of the line and moved up an escalator, according to Chicago Fire Department Spokesman Larry Langford.
Blue Line service has been temporarily suspended between O’Hare and Rosemont.
As a result, trains are only operating between Rosemont and Forest Park at this time.
Bus shuttle service is available to provide connecting service through the affected area between O’Hare and Rosemont.
CTA Spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis said buses were being used between the Rosemont and O’Hare stops.
After months of rumors ... from adultery to divorce ... Keyshia Cole has finally confirmed she and her NBA star husband 'Boobie' Gibson are separated.
Cole appeared with The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 in New York Thursday morning and when asked about the current status of her relationship with Gibson said, "We co-parent."
Cole implied that she and the Cleveland Cavaliers star are living apart -- and that he comes to her home at 8:30 AM every morning to pick up their son to take him to school. Cole says she picks the kid up at the end of the day ... adding, "We good."
Cole wouldn't say if either side has filed divorce docs yet -- but said the two still care for each other.
Keyshia and Boobie were married in 2011. They have 1 child together.
Chipotle has dropped their lawsuit against Frank Ocean after receiving payment from the singer, a spokesperson for the fast food company confirmed.
Last week, Ocean posted what appeared to be an image of a cashier's check to his Tumblr in the amount of $212,500 with "F*ck off" written in the Memo section in all caps. The singer tellingly posted Wikipedia's entry for "Defamation" right before posting the image of the check. A spokesperson for Chipotle said at the time, "If/when we get a check from Frank, we should be able to close the books on this. Right now, all we have is a photo online."
Now, the spokesperson says, "Yes, he sent a check but, unlike the pics he posted online, it didn’t say 'f*ck off' on the memo line."
Still, this appears to be the end of this legal situation for Ocean, who was sued by Chipotle for allegedly backing out of a deal to record a song for an advertising campaign after taking a fee for the work. The song, a cover of 1971's "Pure Imagination" popularized in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, was eventually recorded by Fiona Apple.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Ocean's legal team sent Chipotle a letter explaining his withdrawal, noting that, "When Frank was asked to participate in this project, Chipotle's representatives told him that the thrust of the campaign was to promote responsible farming. There was no Chipotle reference or logo in the initial presentation, and Chipotle told Frank that was an intentional element of the campaign," the letter said. "Frank was also promised that he'd have the right to approve the master and all advertising."

Chicago Public Schools and the city’s public health department will be expanding a pilot program to make condoms available to high school students to 24 schools this fall as part of an ongoing effort to combat teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases among young people.
School officials said currently condoms are available at two district schools—Collins High School and Foreman High School.
The district will be working with the Chicago Department of Public Health to identify which 24 schools will get the condoms, but CPS spokeswoman Lauren Huffman said it is ultimately up to each principal to decide whether condoms will be available in their school building.
If a principal decides to make the condoms available, the program will be overseen by a staff member trained in sexual health education who can answer student questions, officials said.
High school students can access the free condoms via dispensers in a location determined by each school.
CPS officials said that under district policy, parents will be notified prior to any sexual health education being provided.
According to a recent city report, Chicago’s teen birth rate decreased 33 percent, but it still remains one of the highest in the nation. Officials say the teen birth rate in Chicago is one and a half times higher than the national average.
The condom distribution program is part of a $20 million federal teen pregnancy prevention grant awarded to CPS.
The condom pilot program came up Wednesday during a presentation by city officials on the city's Action Plan for Healthy Adolescents at a joint meeting of the City Council Health and Education committees.
City Health Commissioner Dr. Bechara Choucair said a study shows over half of CPS high school students are sexually active, but only 65 percent of those students use condoms.
"So this is one tool to make sure these students are making educated decisions," Choucair said after the meeting. "And if they would like to have access to condoms we want to make sure they have access to them."
Choucair said it's too early to say whether the condom dispensers will eventually be found in all public high schools. "This is a pilot program, so we're still working out the details," he said after the meeting.
Choucair said city officials will work with LSCs and school principals to try to head off any potential controversy over the program.
Starbucks Corp will add a celebrity blend to its big tea push when it debuts "Oprah Chai," a tea-based drink created by media mogul Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey and Starbucks' chief Howard Schultz clinked tea cups on Wednesday at the company's annual meeting as they announced the new brew, which will go on sale at Starbucks and Teavana stores in the United States and Canada on April 29.
Starbucks, the world's biggest coffee chain, is looking to tea as a way to keep expanding its sales as competition grows in the coffee market and it continues moving into new global markets.
"We are going to elevate the tea experience in the same way we did for coffee," Schultz said, adding that partnering with Oprah "is a strong next step forward in accomplishing this objective."
Starbucks said Winfrey developed the tea with Teavana's teaologist Naoko Tsunoda.
Winfrey, a tea aficionado, said her taste runs toward the spicy, robust and fuller-bodied. And to that end, "Oprah Chai" is a blend of tea infused with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves, and will be sold in tins or as prepared tea lattes.
For each Teavana "Oprah Chai" product sold, Starbucks will make a donation to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation to benefit youth education.
According to The Tea Association of the USA, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world next to water. While tea is the more popular beverage, coffee is king when it comes to sales.
Global coffee retail sales were $75.7 billion in 2012 compared to $40.7 billion for tea, according to market research firm Euromonitor International.
Seattle-based Starbucks' $620 million purchase of tea store chain Teavana Holdings Inc in 2012 was its largest acquisition to date.

The John Hancock Center's redesigned observation deck dubbed 360 Chicagois nearing completion, and to get folks totally pumped up about it, they've released this video of its new "Tilt" attraction which places visitors in a big glass box of windows that tilts downward into the abyss of the Magnificent Mile. Up to eight people can stand in the box as it moves 1,000feet above ground. YIKES!
The new observation deck at the Hancock is scheduled to open sometime next month.
Pretend You’re Fine – I think this tendency is driven from the “stupid” part of our brains. We must STOP pretending that we cannot be hurt. We can’t avoid it, we all feel pain. It’s part of our anatomy. Instead, punch a pillow, scream at your house, yell at your neighbors cat :). Cry. You too men. You don’t need to cry in public or at work, but if you feel like crying, do it. Smart people call this process, grieving and it’s proven to be the fastest and healthiest way to recover. Let’s stop pretending and kill the numbness. Your life of true, healthy emotion is waiting.
Try to be “Just Friends” - People can almost never turn a breakup into healthy friendship, and until you’re okay with the idea of your ex dating someone new — and vice versa — you’re not ready to be friends. It’s important to create intentional space and let yourself grieve the end of the relationship. If your ex is pushing to be your pal, stand your ground. Right now, you’re not looking for a friend who looks exactly like the person you just broke up with.
Seek Revenge – Don’t damage their stuff, kidnap their dog, or cancel their credit card. If you share an apartment be a responsible adult and work through the division of your stuff with peace. Even if you’ve been betrayed and broken. Maybe even cheated on. Revenge only feeds into your bitterness, stoops you to their level, and it offers no healing. Focus on people who make you happy and lean into forgiveness. It’s the only way out.
Sleep Together – Don’t do it. In our broken state we give into our need for intimacy. This is not the way. People think it will help soften the pain. But in reality, relationships are like a drug. There is only one way to quit and that’s, cold-turkey. Remember, there was never a person on their death bed who said, “I wish I would of slept with my ex one more time.”
Stalk them Online – The social media world has really made this tough. I always tell people never post anything about your breakup online. No matter how vague or harmless it might seem. Secondly, never look at your ex’s profiles. Unfriend, unfollow, and block. There is nothing like a late night photo of your ex on a date to completely ruin your week. Fight the urge. Fast from social media for a few weeks. What ever it takes.
Get a Haircut or Tattoo – There is nothing more obvious to the world that you don’t know how to properly deal with your pain than a new haircut, a new style, or a tattoo. Don’t buy a motorcycle, don’t leave the country, and don’t move. Wait at least 30 days before you make any big decisions. I like to think after a breakup you are legally “emotionally insane”. Even though hair grows back, your bad pho-hawk might bruise your already broken confidence.
Give up – I’ll never find him. I’m not good enough. I’m ugly. Don’t let these statements hit your mind. It’s normal to be upset and to feel bad. But don’t lose hope. Learn the difference from being upset for a few weeks and depression. Stay around people and embrace your singleness. Be excited that you are one step closer to finding your match.
You share important core beliefs and values: This is number one for a reason. Connecting on a spiritual and emotional level is just as critical as the physical. If you don’t align on the things that truly matter, it’s better to cut your losses now and start the search for the man who does.
You have fun together: Now we all have fun on the first 20 dates, but I’m referring to the hundred that follow. Are you able to laugh, have meaningful conversation, and truly enjoy each other for years to come? If so, you might have a keeper.
He’s beyond honest: If you catch a scent of dishonesty, watch out! A man’s need to lie is a telling clue about his character and emotional health. It can indicate real insecurity, lack of integrity, or lack of moral standards. And if lying shows up consistently while dating, it’s possible to get worse during marriage. The flip-side: a man who consistently tells the truth is a man who doesn’t have something to hide. This is the type of guy worth marrying.
He fights fair (most of the time): Arguing is a part of every relationship. Of course there will be days where the both of you leave the house in a fit, but we must remember arguments should end with either an agreement, a compromise or a solution to move the relationship forward. But at the end of the day, he must fight fair – not getting angry with each disagreement, not always needing to get the last word in or dropping to the level of throwing insults in place of mature discussion. If your man can fight fair at least most of the time, it’s a good sign he’s worth marrying.
Robin Thicke has again vowed to save his marriage to Paula Patton, but the “Blurred Lines” singer was snapped in NYC over the weekend without his wedding ring — a sign that the relationship may be beyond repair.
The pair recently announced their split after almost nine years of marriage, but Thicke, who turns 37 today, told fans at Madison Square Garden on Friday night they should always “fight” for the person they love.
“When there’s someone you love, you gotta fight for them no matter what,” he told the packed house. “We gotta learn to forgive each other, learn to love each other ... no matter who it is in your family or relationship ... ’cause you’re always gonna need your friends and family.”
After his show at MSG, Thicke stopped by Meatpacking District hot spot La Cenita for a secret performance at the Remy Martin party that took over the entire restaurant. “He jumped up onstage for a toast, then sang ‘Blurred Lines,’ but only made it through that song before announcing to the crowd his voice had been bothering him from the tour,”.
“He said that his voice hurt, and he didn’t say ’bye to anyone. He just left, and everyone was really confused,” says our snitch. The multiplatinum R&B singer was seen quickly leaving the venue, and later partied at West Village club Up and Down.
On March 2, Thicke was still wearing his platinum wedding band as he took the stage at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, where he told fans he was trying to spread “love and joy” in what sounded like a reference to attempting to win back his high-school sweetheart.
“Never stop believing and you never stop loving. And even if it is over, make sure you treat each other right. Treat your family right. Sometimes when I get a little scared or worried about the future, I just try to stay positive and do my part to spread love and spread joy,” he said at the gig. When a fan called out, “I love Paula!” Thicke fired back, “I do, too!”
Patton, meanwhile, has been getting on with her life, sans wedding ring, and was seen at the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica on March 1 and the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party.
Master P isn’t gonna let his ex-wife drag his name through the mud without getting his two cents in.
Last week it was reported that the No Limit Records rapper was out here living like a king in the lap of luxury while his estranged wife Sonya Miller is barely making it on welfare while trying to take care of four kids. She also claims that she helped him start his businesses, including No Limit Records, and P is now worth over $200 million but has left her without a pot to pee in. She recently had to move in with Lil Romeo.
Master P, however, says her money problems don’t have anything to do with him! This weekend, he posted an open letter on his website, biting back at both the reports and Sonya. He wrote:
Why is this news? I haven’t been with this person in over 7 years. She has had several boyfriends since then. I take great care of all of my kids, all of their needs are being met in an abundance. I come from the ghetto, I changed my life but she didn’t want to grow with me so were not together. If Sonya supposedly helped me start any of my companies including No Limit, wouldn’t she be capable of creating some type of income in the last seven years besides turning to welfare?
Educated business people don’t think like that even in hard times. Stevie Wonder could see through this publicity stunt. This is hilarious. All I ask is that she take a drug test in the next two weeks and pass it. I will give her everything I have. The four minors she says she needs help with, three of them are with me, this makes no sense. I’m tired of sugarcoating and hiding the truth of ungrateful people that I’ve been taking care of for so many years. If she’s that great of a businesswoman like she claims, she should be able to do it again for herself.
I don’t trip on my past success. Even through the rebuilding stages in my life, I never blamed anybody. I just figured it out and worked harder. I put my trust in God, not people. You can expect people to take shots at you but I never imagined the people you take care of to turn on you.
I can see why wealthy people leave their money to charity because there are so many ungrateful, unappreciative family members that feel entitled even when they haven’t contributed. When things are going good, everybody loves you, but when things aren’t so good, you see the real in people and even in relationships. I’m not mad at her though. I’ll just pray for her, she will always be the mother of my children. I’m not perfect but I go above and beyond to provide for my kids and family.
Is P implying that she’s on drugs and that may be one of the sources of her money problems? Ouch!
If you are wondering what Romeo has to say about this, he posted:
My father is a good man, my parents are not together but he still provides a roof, transportation and all of her living expenses. Honestly, she gives me the bills and I hand them over to him and he takes care of it. She is blessed, she lives in a guard-gated community and drives luxury vehicles. Its funny how people jump on negative media and gossip instead of all the positive things that my father does for underprivileged kids in communities across the U.S.” That’s okay though, the enemy doesn’t try to stop you from where you’re at, but where you’re going. We must be going into even bigger success.
The weekend box office tallies are in and Tyler Perry might not be having such a great week.
Single Mom’s Club opened in the number five spot this weekend with $8.3 million in box office receipts. That’s his lowest opening weekend as a director, and it’s his second lowest opening as a producer. The lowest was for last year’s Tyler Perry Presents Peeples starring Kerry Washington, which opened at $4.6 million. According to Variety, Single Mom’s Club actually had good reviews from CinemaScore with an A- rating.
Previously, the lowest box office opening for a movie Perry directed was 2007′s Daddy’s Little Girls with $11.2 million.
It seems as though Perry might be losing a bit of his luster at the box office. Aside from Peeples, Box Office Mojo notes that A Madea Christmas had a rough go at the box office, “barely [surpassing] $50 million.” But Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for box-office tracker Rentrak, isn’t counting him out just yet.
“This is one of Tyler Perry’s lowest debuts ever, but he cranks out hits every year for almost decade,” he told the AP. “He’s allowed a couple of missteps every once in a while.”
In the top spot for the weekend was the animated film Mr. Peabody and Sherman with $21.2 million. That movie is actually based on a cartoon that aired in the 1950s and 60s during the Rocky & Bullwinkle show. In second place was the 3D movie 300: Rise of an Empire with $19.1 million (it was last week’s top movie). And number three was Need for Speed, the car racing movie that was expected to take the number one spot. And Non-Stop the airplane thriller starring Liam Neeson (with a small part for Lupita Nyong’o) was at number four with $10.6 million. It has already earned $68.8 million.
Chris Brown will stay in jail until April 23 ... he was SHUT DOWN in court Monday afternoon in his bid to win release.
Chris was arrested after getting booted from rehab Friday. The judge had ordered him to stay in rehab while he decided whether Brown violated his probation in the Rihanna case. The judge had Chris arrested almost immediately after the rehab facility kicked him out.
The judge said Chris had an "inability to stay out of trouble." Hizzoner was especially concerned at a statement Chris made at the rehab joint, "I am good at using guns and knives."
So Chris will sit in jail until April 23. The judge wants Chris in the slammer until a D.C. jury decides if Chris committed criminal assault in an unrelated case. That trial is set for April 17 and should only last a few days. It's unclear if the judge will let Chris back to attend the trial.
The L.A. judge will hold a probation violation hearing on April 23, and if Chris is convicted in D.C. he's in big trouble. Worst case scenario ... he could be sentenced to 4 years in prison for violating probation in the Rihanna case. One of the conditions -- obey all laws.
Chris was booted from rehab Friday for violating three internal rules at the facility -- most significantly ... violating a rule specifically for Chris -- stay at least 2 feet away from every woman in the facility. He was seen touching a woman's elbow and hands.
He also violated the rule requiring him to submit to a random drug test. He belatedly had a change of heart and came up clean, but the initial refusal was a violation.
And Chris talked smack about rehab during a group therapy session.
Chris was arrested immediately after he got kicked out ... staying in rehab was a requirement of the judge pending his trial in D.C. next month for assault.
Kanye West was sentenced to two years probation stemming from a fight between the rapper and paparazzi photographer Daniel Ramos in 2013.
The rapper originally pleaded not guilty to charges of misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft, but pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery charge. The attempted grand theft charge has been dismissed.
In exchange for the plea, West must also undergo 250 hours of community service and 30 days of anger management. Should the rapper stay out of legal trouble for the next two years, the conviction will be expunged from his record.
In July 2013, West was being photograped by numerous photographers at LAX, when he addressed Ramos. "What you're trying to do is get me in trouble, so I step out and have to pay you like $250,000," the rapper said, before running toward Ramos and attempting to grab his camera. While the L.A. County district attorney's office decided not to file felony charges against West, the case was referred to the city attorney, who subsequently filed misdemeanor charges against the rapper. Had he been convicted of each of the misdemeanors, West may have spent up to six months in prison.
The NFL has been secretly pursuing M.I.A. in arbitration in the aftermath of Super Bowl XLVI on Feb. 5, 2012. During the event, watched by nearly 167 million TV households, the Sri Lankan singer-rapper extended her middle finger during a performance of "Give Me All Your Luvin' "
M.I.A. wasn't paid for the event as is the custom of the league. But nevertheless, the NFL spent the first two years of arbitration demanding $1.5 million for allegedly breaching her performance contract and tarnishing its goodwill and reputation.
Now the NFL has added an additional claim, seeking $15.1 million more in "restitution" as the alleged value of public exposure she received by appearing for an approximately two minute segment during Madonna's performance. The figure is based on what advertisers would have paid for ads during this time. "The claim for restitution lacks any basis in law, fact, or logic," say M.I.A.'s response papers, filed on Friday.
The music superstar tells the arbitrator that the "continued pursuit of this proceeding is transparently an exercise by the NFL intended solely to bully and make an example of Respondents for daring to challenge NFL."
What's more, the responsibility of broadcaster NBC could be investigated as the arbitration continues forward.
"NFL, and NBC, failed to exercise ordinary care in the conduct of the Halftime show by not activating the '5 second delay' system in place for the broadcast," says M.I.A.'s papers. "Any alleged fault or liability of Respondents should be diminished by NBC's dereliction. Discovery has not been taken yet to determine whether contractually NBC owed a duty to NFL to properly operate the delay system. Very likely that is indeed the case."
Experts warned against the dangers of following celebrity advice after reality star Kristin Cavallari acknowledged Thursday that she and husband Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler decided not to vaccinate their children.
When directly asked whether she was opposed to vaccines during an appearance on the Fox Business Network program, The Independents, Cavallari said, “we don’t vaccinate.” The reason? “I’ve read too many books about autism and the studies,” she said.
But some wondered what Cavallari had been reading. The supposed association between childhood shots and autism has been debunked by scientific studies involving millions of children and a lack of evidence for it.
“Any association between vaccines and autism has long been disproven,” said Dr. Kenneth Alexander, chief of the section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Chicago. “Her words are dangerous, will result in the under-immunization of children, and an increase in morbidity and mortality due to vaccine preventable diseases.”
Most pediatricians strongly advocate vaccination because it can save lives. A cluster of unvaccinated children, meanwhile, can put even vaccinated children at risk. Respected medical organizations, including the World Health Organization, the National Institutes of Health and the American Academy of Pediatrics, state there is no evidence of a link and recommend all children receive vaccinations.
Cavallari, pregnant with the Cutler’s second son, went on to explain, “Well, there is a pediatric group called Homestead, Homestead or Homefirst, now I have pregnancy brain I got them confused — they’ve never vaccinated any of their children, and they haven’t had one case of autism. And now one in 88 boys is autistic, which is a really scary statistic.”
The show host, former MTV VJ Kennedy, looked skeptical. “Well, my mom vaccinated us and she doesn’t have any cases of autism either,” she said.
To which Cavallari replied, “The vaccinations have changed over the years, there’s more mercury and other…” she trailed off.
Yes, the vaccines have changed. As a precaution, by 2001, the mercury-based preservative thimerosal was removed from most vaccines for children under age 6 — with the exception of the influenza vaccine.
Homefirst Health Services, meanwhile — if that’s what Cavallari meant — is a Rolling Meadows-based pediatrics practice that embraces home births and shuns vaccines. Dr. Mayer Eisenstein and his practice were the subject of a 2009 Chicago Tribune investigation that shed light on the use of potentially dangerous alternative autism treatments. On the Homefirst website, Eisenstein maintains that “personal religious convictions, not scientific studies, are the main reasons, upon which to base your vaccination decision.”
Alexander said Cavallari’s comments illustrate the problems with celebrity spokespeople, namely that they often have their facts wrong. “Celebrity status does not indicate scientific expertise,” he said.
Looks like Eric has the cure for that Sexual Addiction with a 2nd smoking hot wife and now 2 kids!
Eric Benet and his wife Manuela Testolini are expecting their second child, the singer's rep confirms. The couple are already parents to 2-year-old daughter Lucia Bella.
"She is due this summer," Benet's rep confirms. The couple announced the happy news to their family and friends by sharing a sweet picture of their toddler making a "to do list." Some of her tasks included learning how to walk and talk. The only detail not checked off yet? "Become a big sister!"
Benet, 47, and Testolini, 37, tied the knot in July 2011, and welcomed Lucia in December 2012. One month later, the proud parents shared the first photos of their bundle of joy with Us exclusively.
"She is perfect in every way, and as expected, Manuela is truly proving to be the world's best mother," Benet told Us at the time. "She is so attentive, nurturing and loving."
Benet was previously married to Halle Berry for three years until their split in 2005. The 47-year-old actress recently welcomed baby boy Maceo with husband Olivier Martinez in October 2013. Testolini was previously married to Prince from 2001 to 2006.
