BET Suspends Producer After Blue Ivy Joke
NEW YORK (AP) — BET has suspended a producer after a joke about Beyonce and Jay-Z’s daughter that aired Monday on the network’s music video countdown show, “106 & Park.” A source at the network, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the person was not allowed to discuss the matter publicly, said the producer was suspended after an on-air remark about 2-year-old Blue Ivy’s hair.

On Monday’s show during a segment about Blue Ivy’s hypothetical thoughts during Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, guest host Karrueche Tran said: “I really did wake up like this, because my parents never comb my hair.” Blue Ivy joined her mother onstage at the VMAs.

Stephen Hill, BET’s president of music programming and specials, publicly apologized on Twitter. BET didn’t immediately return an email seeking comment.

K. Michelle Disses Tamar Braxton Over Her Edges, Tamar Responds
Tamar Braxton is known for her flamboyant personality, soaring vocals and diva hair-do’s, but underneath those wigs and weaves the “Love & War” singer was struggling with a balding hairline. During the premiere episode of “Braxton Family Values” last week, the Internet erupted with memes that poked fun at Tamar’s edges, but it was her former enemy, K. Michelle, who really put the nail in the coffin.

“Looking out to heavens thanking God for everything. This fame stuff is cool sometimes, but the TRUE blessing is that I have all of my edges,” K. Michelle wrote on Instagram, “Oh, and I don’t have to steal my cable anymore. Laugh it’s good for u,” she added. Since she didn’t mention names, we can’t confirm that she was talking about Tamar, but given their history and the timeliness of “BVF,” we think it’s safe to say K. Michelle had a little fun at Tamar’s expense.

Tamar responded to the Internet on Instagram, saying: When u HAVE your baby …(my son) your hair falls out!! Thanks to @simplicityhairoil for my hairline coming back! But if it didn’t work I would BUY me some. Glad you all get to see the changes while #bfv & #T&V on T.V.

Unrest Escalates In Ferguson As Police Try To Quell Protest [PHOTO, VIDEO]

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Protests in the St. Louis suburb rocked by racial unrest since a white police officer shot an unarmed black teenager to death turned violent Wednesday night, with some people lobbing Molotov cocktails and other objects at police who responded with smoke bombs and tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson, who has been the public face of the city torn by Saturday’s death of 18-year-old Michael Brown, told reporters earlier in the day that the St. Louis County investigation of the shooting could take weeks to complete. In the meantime, he said, his department welcomes Justice Department training on racial relations in the suburb, where two-thirds of the 21,000 residents are black while all but three of the police force’s 53 officers are white. “Unfortunately, an undertow (of racial unrest) has bubbled to the surface,” said Jackson. “Race relations is the top priority right now.”

While Jackson said he wanted to mend fences with the community, protesters were on the streets of Ferguson again Wednesday, facing heavily armed police who at time trained weapons on them from an armored truck. Two reporters said they were detained by police while working at a McDonald’s in the area. The situation became more tense after nightfall, with police ordering people to go home and then using smoke bombs and later tear gas after some people threw Molotov cocktails and other things at them. Most of the crowd then dispersed. Journalists who witnessed the events included an Associated Press photographer. St. Louis County police spokesman Brian Schellman said he had no immediate information about the situation.

Earlier, Wesley Lowery of The Washington Post and Ryan Reilly of The Huffington Post said they were handcuffed and put into a police van after officers came in to quickly clear the fast-food restaurant where they were doing some work. The Washington Post reported that Lowery said he was slammed against a soda machine and plastic cuffs were put on his wrists. Reilly told MSNBC that an officer slammed his head against the glass “purposefully” on the way out of the restaurant “and then sarcastically apologized for it.” The reporters were subsequently released without any charges.

Martin D. Baron, The Washington Post’s executive editor, issued a statement saying “there was absolutely no justification” for Lowery’s arrest and said the organization was appalled by the officers’ conduct.
Ryan Grim, Washington, D.C., bureau chief for The Huffington Post, said in a statement that “compared to some others who have come into contact with the police department, they came out relatively unscathed, but that in no way excuses the false arrest or the militant aggression toward these journalists.”

Jackson did not immediately return a cellphone message Wednesday night from the AP seeking comment about the arrests. The mystery of the officer’s identity has fanned the discord, with Jackson arguing that revealing that detail could bring retribution to the officer whose life since Saturday has been countlessly threatened. But civil rights activists and the attorney for Brown’s family, all pressing for calm amid nights of unrest since Brown’s death, counter that knowing the officer’s name may help the area to heal, allowing the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and others to dig into the officer’s background for any prior brutality.
“We don’t want anyone’s life threatened. If someone like this officer is killed, then there is no justice,” said John Gaskin III of St. Louis County’s NAACP chapter. Police have said the shooting happened after an officer encountered 18-year-old Michael Brown and another man on the street. They say one of the men pushed the officer into his squad car, then physically assaulted him in the vehicle and struggled with the officer over the officer’s weapon. At least one shot was fired inside the car. The struggle then spilled onto the street, where Brown was shot multiple times.

Dorian Johnson, who says he was with Brown when the shooting happened, has told a much different story. He has told media outlets that the officer ordered them out of the street, then tried to open his door so close to the men that it “ricocheted” back, apparently upsetting the officer. Johnson says the officer grabbed his friend’s neck, then tried to pull him into the car before brandishing his weapon and firing. He says Brown started to run and the officer pursued him, firing multiple times. Johnson and another witness both say Brown was on the street with his hands raised when the officer fired at him repeatedly.

Robert McCulloch, the county’s prosecutor, said that investigators were interviewing Johnson on Wednesday. Jackson said that the officer sustained swelling facial injuries during the confrontation that preceeded the shooting. Brown’s body remained on the street for hours — a span Jackson deemed “uncomfortable” but justified, given that “you only get one chance at that crime scene” to process it correctly. Jackson said authorities also were concerned about gunfire they could hear from a nearby building. In the shooting’s aftermath, the notorious hacking collective Anonymous has taken credit for hacking into the city website and shutting it down for much of Monday. The group also released what it said were audio experts from St. Louis County dispatch on the day Brown was killed as well as a complete list of employees of the Ferguson police department. Police declined to comment on the recordings. On Tuesday, hackers posted pictures of St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar’s home and family online, as well as his home address and telephone number in hopes of pressuring him to release the officer’s name. In one picture, alleged to be of Belmar’s son, a Confederate flag can be seen in the background.

“Realistically, what positive could come from that information coming out?” Jackson said. “Right now, people want it so they can destroy that person’s life. That’s the only reason that group’s asking for it.” But community members said they want to know who the officer is. “We have the right to know, and the family has the right to know who murdered their son,” said Sahari Gutierrez, a 27-year-old Ferguson legal assistant.

Nelly, Keyshia Cole And The Manns To Star In New Reality Shows
Nelly and Miss Jackson’s relationship is headed to BET.

The rapper’s girlfriend – boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s infamous ex – will be a part of his new reality show set to air on the Viacom-owned cable network, which has also given series orders to shows starring Keyshia Cole (her third for BET), and one featuring Meet the Browns stars David and Tamela Mann.

The untitled Nelly vehicle will focus on the rapper navigating his hip-hop career, fashion business, co-ownership of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats and the raising of his biological kids and late sister’s children – all while balancing a relationship with Miss Jackson.

The eight hour-long episodes will, as BET says, offer viewers an all-access pass to Nelly’s life. Nelly will executive produce the Entertainment One series alongside Tara Long, John Morayniss, Howie Miller, David Shaye, Kim McKoy and Shanta Conic and co-executive producer J. Erving.

The untitled Cole project, picked up for six half-hour episodes, will follow her ongoing emotional journey as she confronts real-life issues, including her unstable marriage to NBA player Daniel Gibson, her evolving career, motherhood and family struggles. (The previous series, Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is and Keyshia & Daniel: Family First, ran from 2006-08 and in 2012, respectively.)

The untitled series starring the Manns will follow husband and wife Tamela and David Mann at home with their four adult children, at exclusive events and with their famous friends. The couple has been married for 26 years.

BET has picked up eight hour-long episodes of the show from Entertainment One. The Manns executive produce alongside Long, Miller, McKoy, Roger Bobb and Phil Thornton.

“These three shows are led by talent that our audience connects with but are also very different shows,” BET Senior VP of Original Programming Charlie Jordan Brookins tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re excited about these new shows. What BET does is give the audience what they’ve been looking for.”

The three additions join an unscripted roster that features long-running hit Sunday Best and scripted entries such as The Game, Being Mary Jane, Let’s Stay Together and Real Husbands of Hollywood.

NEW YORK (AP) — Facebook’s recent effort to force people to adopt its standalone mobile messaging app has privacy-concerned users up in arms. Many of them believe the app is especially invasive.

One blog from the Huffington Post published in December has gone viral, making the rounds on the social network recently because it claims the app gives Facebook “direct control over your mobile device” and allows Facebook to call phone numbers without a users’ intervention and send text messages without confirmation, but none of that is accurate.

In truth, Facebook Messenger isn’t any more invasive than Facebook’s main app —or other similar applications. The fear and confusion stem from a message that greets owners of Android devices when they install the app. It explains that the app requires permission access to the device’s camera, microphone, list of contacts and other information. Here’s what Facebook’s mobile messaging app does and doesn’t do.

—Myth: You have to use the Messenger app if you want to send messages to your Facebook friends.

—Reality: While it’s required to download if you are using Facebook’s mobile app on the iPhone or Android smartphones, you can avoid it if use the Facebook messenger service on your desktop or laptop, iPad or even the mobile Facebook website.

—Myth: The Facebook Messenger app’s terms of service are different from —and more intrusive than— Facebook’s own official terms.

—Reality: Facebook’s terms of service are the same for all its mobile apps, including the main Facebook app. You can read it here: What’s upsetting people is the list of “permissions” they see when they download and install the app on an Android phone. It’s a long list with 10 items, each of which states that the app needs access to features on your phone including contacts, calendar, location data and Wi-Fi information. Sure, that’s a lot of personal data. But it’s the same data most messaging apps have access to. On the iPhone, users don’t get the list of permissions when they install the app, but when they use it, permissions pop up individually. You can view the app’s list of permissions here: . Click “view details” under Permissions.

—Myth: Facebook’s Messenger app will use your phone’s microphone to record you.

—Reality: The app needs permission to use your phone’s microphone and camera. But it requires that access because the microphone is needed for voice calling, a service that the standalone app offers that the Facebook app doesn’t, and sending sound with videos. Same with the camera, it needs access if you want to send your friends pictures.

---Myth: Facebook will direct the app to send SMS, or text, messages without your permission.

—Reality: One of the permissions does say that Facebook can edit, receive, read and send SMS messages. But the company says the reason it wants to send and receive SMS messages is so that if you add a phone number to your Messenger account, you can confirm by a confirmation code that Facebook sends via text message.

—Myth: The Messenger app is new.

—Reality: Facebook’s Messenger app has been around since 2011. In April, it started requiring that users in Europe download and install the app if they wish to send messages to Facebook friends. Two weeks ago, the company said it would expand the requirement to other parts of the world. Facebook says it’s forcing users to make the switch because a standalone app offers more features. For example, the app is faster, it offers a selfie cam, stickers and can be used to reach people on your contact list who are not Facebook users.

Sherri Shepherd Says Ex Stole 20K
There’s more drama coming out of the Sherri Shepherd camp involving her estranged husband, Lamar Sally.

The ex-The View host is claiming that Sally helped himself to $20K from their joint bank account before he split … and the money could end up as a key piece of evidence in their custody war, reports TMZ.

Shepherd, according to sources close to her, say she was in the dark until she looked at a recent bank statement and saw the money was gone. Shepherd is reportedly disavowing the contract she and Sally signed with a surrogate on grounds Lamar defrauded her and that the only reason he wanted the baby was so he could divorce her and collect child support. We’re told Sherri will use the $20K withdrawal as proof Lamar was purely money-motivated.

Sally sources say he used the money for baby expenses including trips he took to Pennsylvania to be with the surrogate. He also says Shepherd was aware that he took the money out of their joint account. Also, there’s this: Sally has not heard from Shepherd since the baby was born.

Jay Z's Rumored Sidepiece Records 'Sorry Mrs. Carter' [Watch]

The woman tabloids swear is Jay Z’s mistress is finally addressing all of the unsubstantiated reports and unnamed sources with a new song and video, titled “Sorry Mrs. Carter.” The song from rapper Liv doubles down on her insistence that Jay Z has a wandering eye that definitely landed on her…and for that, she is sorry. Borrowing from the chorus of Outkast’s “Ms. Jackson,” she sings: “Sorry Mrs. Carter, this is for real.” Liv claims she and Jay only “connected on some hip hop s**t” and nothing more. At one point, she raps: “F**k f**king to the top, me and Jay never screwed.” She begins the song by alluding to Beyonce’s rap remix of “Flawless,” saying, “You know what, I was gonna respect you. But since you crossed over into my lane, time to check you.” “Your man,” she continues, “he likes model chicks. He likes all-naturally-flawless model chicks, like me.” Elsewhere, she appears to go after both Bey (for failing to keep Jay’s groupies in line) and Jay (for failing to keep Bey in line), rapping: “Why don’t you tell these girls how to be wives? Why don’t you tell these girls how to act around yo’ husband?” Liv also gets in her share of references to Jay Z and Beyonce songs. Here are just five mentioned in the track: • “The man? He likes model chicks. He likes all naturally flawless model chicks, like me.” • “Jigga man, I don’t care if you rap, you got to R-E-S-P-E-C-T.” • “You got 99 problems, I’m not tryin’ to be one.” • “Girls can’t run the world fightin’ over men, all my single ladies better keep in mind when them those tables turn you gon’ be the wife.” • “You out here tellin’ them how to serfbort. Come on, now. Serfborts. Monica Lewinsky. You a married woman.”

Recently the actress was baptized at her home by Pastor Touré Roberts and she shared some of the experience with her followers via Instagram. The short clip was accompanied with this verbiage: “Soooo I’d like to share this: Tues evening at my home I celebrated w/ my friends and family getting Baptised by my @onechurchla pastor @toureroberts and it was amazing. I was so full and now wanting to serve you w/some encouragement to believe, conquer & receive Peace and blessings. #faith #truth #liferocks ASK, BELIEVE, RECEIVE. …..” An emotional LisaRaye is seen crying as Pastor Roberts speaks to her and commends her for all her work at her church, One Church International: “LisaRaye, I’m so excited. And I just think God is getting ready to take you to a whole other level.”

This seems to be another phase in LisaRaye’s goal of changing her life, which has been quite spicy in the past. As we reported just last year, she decided to take a vow of celibacy. “I’m in a new place. I’ve tried everything but celibacy, and I really want to know what it feels like to be touched by someone with a mental touch and not a physical touch. I want to know what it is to build the foundation of the friendship for real, to have my best friend and not because we’re just intimate, but because we’re mentally intimate. So I’m waiting for that person to come into my life. “And when I get myself together, I know God is gonna bless me with that, because I don’t want to come with extra baggage. I’ll come with some, but it’s not fair to him to come with a whole bunch.”
